Brazil: Training for volunteer church leaders

In many smaller Protestant churches in Latin America and the Caribbean, volunteers play a central role in the leadership of congregations.

To support volunteer church leaders, the distance learning course "Church Leadership" will be translated from Portuguese into English (both the texts and the audiovisual content). This will open the course to more participants who are not from Brazil or do not speak Portuguese. It will be offered to Protestant churches in the Caribbean and Africa. Four courses with 25 students each are planned for 2023.

Participants expand their knowledge of the topics in the curriculum (spirituality, Christian stewardship, leadership, building sustainable communities). They apply the knowledge they acquire in the leadership of their churches and communities. Through the fellowship in the course and the knowledge acquired, they are even more motivated and empowered to carry out their leadership roles in the churches and communities. Small English-speaking churches and congregations are encouraged and guided to become more financially independent and to provide a helpful response to the challenges in their communities.
