The world is facing challenges that affect us all - climate change, poverty, inequality and education. In many regions of our partner churches, children and young people are excluded from a qualified education due to poverty, conflict and a lack of infrastructure. Yet education is the key to sustainably improving the living conditions of millions of people. Our partner churches in particular endeavour to pave the way to a better future for people on a daily basis.
Education is more than just imparting knowledge. It is the cornerstone for building a just and sustainable society. It strengthens self-determination, opens up prospects and is crucial for individual and social progress. In the Global South in particular, a sound education opens up access to better jobs, promotes social advancement and contributes to economic development. It also reduces poverty and supports the equal participation of women and girls in society.

Musa found his way from the streets to us at the Outreach Foundation in 2014. He was keen to take part in a computer course. In order to pay the fee of the equivalent of 3 euros, he washed cars. This is the first time the 17-year-old has sat in front of a computer. We quickly recognised his potential. As such courses always include sessions to boost his self-esteem - people who live on the street hardly have any self-esteem - we were able to observe his fantastic development from day to day. Today, ten years later, Musa is the head of our computer training programme. Musa represents so many people who have a future thanks to your donation.

We are committed to supporting education projects in the Global South and providing access to knowledge and training for those who do not have the chance to get an education. The Outreach Foundation in Johannesburg, for example, offers professional cookery and confectionery training, as well as basic training as an electrician and carpenter. Those who take part in these courses will be able to build a secure future for themselves. Something similar is happening in other countries, where we work hand in hand with our partners to create a better future for people who would otherwise hardly have a chance.
