Last call for reports to the independent commission on the investigation of abuse allegations against Pastor Klaus Vollmer.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover has set up an independent investigation commission to examine the allegations of sexualised abuse of power purportedly carried out by Pastor Klaus Vollmer (who passed on in 2011), in the period starting with his service in the Church of Hanover in 1955.
An investigation by Evangelische Geschwisterschaft e.V. (formerly "Kleine Brüder vom Kreuz"), whose founder and long-time leader Klaus Vollmer was, has revealed sexualised and spiritual abuse of power by him in the spiritual community.
Pastor Vollmer was active in the evangelistic work in Germany from 1958 and lived in Hermannsburg for a long time. From 1968, he was active in Germany and abroad and, as part of his missionary activities, he travelled to Asia, Eastern Europe, South America and South Africa, among other places. As a popular preacher and pastor, Klaus Vollmer had contacts throughout Germany and worldwide, which may have given him the opportunity for abusive behaviour.
The ELM supports the efforts to clarify the situation because there were also connections between the work of the ELM mission seminary, the ELM lay leaders school and the activities of Pastor Klaus Vollmer.
