Malawi: Let the sun provide electricity ...
Digitalisation only works with electricity. However, in Malawi, for example, this is often only available for a few people or even hours; sudden power cuts are a daily occurrence.
Diesel generators produce expensive electricity and exhaust fumes. Yet the sun shines all year round in the "warm heart of Africa", as the country is also known.
The central administration of the church, including the residential buildings on the site, is therefore to be reliably supplied with sustainably produced electricity in three phases. The first phase has been demonstrating its potential for the main building and some of the offices since 2019. This also ensures lower electricity costs.
The existing photovoltaic system is now to be expanded so that all offices and around a dozen flats can be supplied with electricity.
Thank you for your donation to help the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi produce sustainable solar power at low cost, thereby improving the work of the church and the lives of some of its employees' families.
