Brazil: Fight for land is a fight for life

Many of the indigenous people in Brazil are being dispossessed of their previous habitats. That is why the Indigenous Missionary Council (COMIN) of the Brazilian partner church is committed to raising awareness of their situation.

They describe it as follows: "The right to territory strengthens ethnic identity, one's own way of life and, above all, the right to life itself. This means moving towards a dignified life, not only for indigenous peoples, but for all forms of life that inhabit this space. Protecting indigenous territories, their physical spaces for social and cultural reproduction, means protecting life for animals, forests and rivers. The right to territory is the right to life, perhaps even the right to many lives!

Access to a different understanding of the world, territory and life makes it possible to recognise a different way of relating to the environment that seeks to guarantee life for all!"

Thank you for making a donation to support the protection of indigenous territories and communities. The partner church supports them in dealing with creation in a way that does not want to use land for profit, but to be able to live.
