Climate action emphasises the need for a global response to climate change and its impact through an integrated framework and coordinated international action.

The Algie-Sachi project in western Ethiopia was developed to address the challenges posed by climate change. The project is funded by the ELM and implemented by the diaconal branch (DASSC) of the Mekane-Yesus Church. The focus is on the sustainable protection of forests from overexploitation and deforestation. We coordinate the various forest user groups, demonstrate how overexploited forests can be reforested and carry out various measures to create greater environmental awareness among the population. The project also has an impact on the income situation of small farmers in the area and is intended to help reduce migration from the area.

By combining climate protection (SDG 13) and economic empowerment, the Algie Sachi project is helping to increase resilience to climate change and promote sustainable development in the region.
