As followers of Christ, we recognise in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) a concrete opportunity to engage in global actions that promote justice and the integrity of creation. For us, the SDGs reflect God's commitment to a future in which humans and nature exist in harmony. They are a practical guide for living in community with all of creation and for building a more just and inclusive world.

The IECLB has given important testimonies of faith and action in line with the SDGs. In partnership with institutions, we promote gender equality (SDG 5) with the ordination of women for 42 years and the Lutheran Diaconal Foundation's "Nem Tão Doce Lar" project, which combats gender-based violence. The Advisory Centre for Smallholders (CAPA) has been working for agroecology and family farms since 1979 and is committed to zero hunger (SDG 2) and responsible consumption and production (SDG 12).

The Council for the Mission of Indigenous Peoples (COMIN) is committed to a dignified life for indigenous peoples and contributes to several SDGs. The IECLB is also committed to combating climate change ('SDG 13) and reducing inequalities (SDG 10) with its "Youth and Environmental Justice" campaign and the development of strategies for social and environmental justice. These examples of support for the SDGs at the national level complement the many testimonies of lived faith in IECLB communities and congregations at the synodal and local levels.
