Paint your world in Orange - #not one less!
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November each year marks the start of the global "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence". This is the kick-off for a period of international action (running until the International Human Rights Day on 10 December) that brings together churches, civil society organisations and committed individuals worldwide. It calls on us to speak out against violence, show solidarity and take steps towards change.
We remember the women who have lost their lives to femicide. Femicide – the killing of women solely because of their gender – is a profound social and global injustice. Behind every such act are people, families and shattered hopes.
We stand in solidarity with all women worldwide who are currently suffering from violence or forced to live in fear, and with families who have lost a loved one to femicide. We are committed to healing, comfort and putting an end to the structures of violence that destroy lives.
