Obra Missionária de Hermannsburg visita a IECLB
This is Portuguese and means: The Hermannsburg Missionary Organisation is visiting the IECLB (Brazilian church). A delegation from the ELM is currently in Brazil. The programme also included a visit to the church leadership.
The Lutheran Church of Brazil (IECLB) is a total of 25 years older than the ELM and is celebrating its 200th anniversary. Many visitors and partners of the IECLB are attending these celebrations. At the beginning of April, these included Kurt Herrera, Ingrid Lüdemann and Waldemar Rausch from the ELM, who met with the IECLB's highest governing body, among others.
Church policy, congregational life and diaconal projects were on the travellers' agenda.
While ELM Secretary for ecumenical cooperation with Latin America, Rev Kurt Herrera, wants to take part in the IECLB's mission forum, the ELM Secretary for the Peace Place 2 Go, Ms Ingrid Lüdemann, and ELM secretary for global sustainability, Rev Waldemar Rausch, want to familiarise themselves with church life, visit agricultural projects and two indigenous communities in the Amazon Basin, where they are confronted by the difficult and at times threatened position of indigenous villagers in the face of deforestation and commercial farmers.
The IECLB also reported on this visit on its website. You can read the Portuguese article here: https://luteranos.com.br/noticias/obra-missionaria-de-hermmansburg-visita-a-ieclb
