Festive and lively
Service celebrated with the participation of the ELM in the Marktkirche in Hanover
Under the leadership of Pastor Marc Blessing, a festive and lively service was celebrated with baptisms, the presentation of the new confirmands and guests from the ELM's partner churches.
Pastor Cristina Scherer gave the sermon on the text from Job 23:1-17 and, in view of the many forms of suffering, she called on people to change their perspective and take action to alleviate human suffering. One way to end suffering is to denounce it, to work together to strengthen action for peace and hope. As ELM, we work with 19 churches in 15 countries. "In the midst of chaos, we remain a compassionate and diaconal church, committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ, not closing ourselves off but reaching out to others as a sign of trust and commitment to God."
Another international guest was Pastor Bertha Munkhondya, General Secretary of the Lutheran Church in Malawi.
With the collection, the market church congregation supports the "Treffpunkt Zukunft" project in Gravatá, Brazil, which offers children and young people a safe place to play and learn. It supports 100 young people with educational activities and workshops, promotes healthy eating habits and strengthens social skills. The "Treffpunkt Zukunft" promotes education and social development and works closely with the Lutheran community and the city administration. It promotes social stability and community development.
We would like to thank the worshippers and all those who support the work of the ELM in Germany and around the world.
