Ethiopia: Start-up aid for a new beginning

Loans for small businesses provide livelihoods for migrants and refugees.

In Adama, 19-year-old Nardos Elias was able to acquire basic knowledge about working as a small businesswoman. She never attended school. She had made a living from embroidery and small artefacts.
Now she received around 200 euros in addition to further knowledge. This enabled her to rent a small shop and equip it with the necessary goods. She can now make a turnover of just under 10 euros a day - enough to finance her simple life.

Aman Ababu, Head of the Diaconic and Social Services Desk of the Central Ethiopian Synod of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, reports on the successful training courses: "Almost all of the selected participants successfully took part in the courses. With the basic knowledge of how to start and run their own small business, they have started to ask about the possible problems that hinder their success and discuss solutions."

The partner church is asking for support for this project. Around 200 euros is enough to provide one woman or man with training and a start-up loan.

With your donation, please help to give people displaced from their homes new prospects for peace - also by empowering them to earn a living! Thank you.
