In the 21st century, when people from four continents are united by a common faith, there are fortunately many forms of digital communication with which they can stay in touch. We are grateful for this. Nevertheless, face-to-face encounters remain the be-all and end-all of any lasting relationship. This is why I want to underline the importance of our Partnerchurch Consultation, which ended in Johannesburg on 5 September.
Over 30 representatives from Protestant churches on four continents came together to get to know each other (better), to learn from each other and to share their visions of the church. We deepened and renewed our relationships and listened to each other, even when we sometimes have different convictions despite our common faith. These conversations, as well as the worship, Bible studies and encounters, will hopefully have an impact for a long time to come.
This is what we want to share with you in this newsletter. We also have an autumn ahead of us with many ELM events in Hermannsburg, Hanover and elsewhere. Again, we - the ELM staff - would be delighted to welcome and meet some of you personally.
God's blessing - Mungu akubariki
Yours, Dr Emmanuel Kileo
