Looking back over the past weeks, we can give thanks that—despite challenges, whether climatic, social or in our partnerships—we continue to witness clear signs of hope, growth and solidarity at ELM. These signs remind us that our mission is not just an ideal but a living, effective reality that connects people across continents and perspectives.
This month’s topics again show me how many signs of hope God gives, even in difficult times. At the ELM Women’s Day, I sensed how strengthening and life-giving it is when people encourage one another. “Faith as a test of courage” remains with me: even when the waves rise, Christ reaches out His hand.
The climate crisis continues to concern us, yet even here I see rays of hope. Conversations, projects and initiatives offer spaces to share worries while renewing our energy to take responsibility together. Our partners around the world show how much strength lies in genuine encounters and how God binds us across borders.
And sometimes it is a simple gesture—a newly planted tree—that reminds us: life grows. Hope grows. We are invited to help plant it, both literally and figuratively.
I hope this newsletter encourages and strengthens you. May God grant you moments in the coming weeks in which you feel that we do not walk this path alone.
With warm regards and blessings,
Ulrich Meyer-Höllings
