A deeper look at various crisis spots and wars, poverty and injustice around the world can be disheartening. But sometimes a global scan of current affairs can also lead to the opposite effect. If we do not limit our perception to ‘our’ country or ‘our’ church, we also discover hopeful developments and, not least, people whose strength of faith we we can be inspired by.

I am thinking, for example, of a theologian who was head of the Mekane-Yesus Seminary in Ethiopia until recently and who very successfully initiated the future viability of this theological educational institution. Or I think of the South African Christians who shared their perspective on the Sunday service with us at a Zoom meeting and who seem to make this format equally attractive for all generations.
