Spring is arriving in Hermannsburg; the forsythia is blooming and, after my first winter in northern Germany, I am particularly enjoying this reawakening of nature. The Ludwig Harms House has a new tenant and has received an extensive renovation; the catering area - including an international buffet - and hotel will open just in time for Easter Sunday.
Looking back on the past month, the award of the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class to our professor abroad, Dr Gudrun Löwner, was undoubtedly a highlight. It was presented to her at the German Embassy in Bangalore. In my view, Dr Anton Tikhomirov's visit to the Office for International Church Cooperation in Hanover, where he reported on the theological education of the Lutheran Church in Russia, was also a special event. New South-North volunteers began their service and I was involved in the installation of a new regional bishop.
In the coming weeks, we will again be offering you a number of events - in Hermannsburg, Hannover, Hildesheim, Verden or online - in which the international community of faith will take centre stage. And last but not least - if we haven't yet had the chance to meet in person - please take a look at the new video that introduces my journey from Tanzania to the heath and my visions for the future.
Wishing you a blessed Easter time - „Heri ya Pasaka“!
Dr Emmanuel Kileo
