We started the new year at ELM with a sad and a joyful event. Both have to do with people who have dedicated their lives to mission. Both Ernst-August Lüdemann and Dr Johanna Goldbach made a conscious decision to become followers of Christ even if it came at quite a cost at times. Our former director Ernst-August Lüdemann passed on on 28 December 2024 and we look back on his fulfilled life, which he dedicated to the service of Jesus Christ.
Dr Johanna Goldbach was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class on 16 January. We are delighted for her. The 81-year-old doctor worked for the mission in Botswana for 26 years. Her whole life is a testimony to her faith.
People like these two show the power that faith can unleash and the fruit it can bear. At the beginning of the year, we should feel encouraged by their work.
In this newsletter, we would also like to give you a deeper insight into the themes of our new exhibition ‘time to change’ in the Ludwig-Harms-Haus in Hermannsburg and invite you to interesting events in the coming weeks.
