In the midst of the Advent season, this newsletter invites us to look with gratitude at what connects us around the world. The international cooperation in the campaign against gender-based violence, shows how important collective action across borders is. When churches and organisations connected with us share their experiences and work together for protection, dignity, and justice, it becomes clear: we are not alone.
We also look with joy at the "peace dove" initiative in our local congregation in Hermannsburg. It brought together people of different ages and set a visible sign of peace and hope—very concretely, right in the midst of everyday life and impossible to miss.
Another sign of hope was the international gathering marking the beginning of a faith community, shaped by the “I am …” words of Jesus. These promises came alive in conversations and shared time and made clear how deeply our faith connects us—regardless of background or context. We are already looking forward to seeing how the work within this network will be filled with life through concrete project ideas.
Especially in challenging and “stormy” times, the importance of international solidarity and church partnership work becomes evident. The experiences from Botswana remind us that strong relationships, mutual support, and prayer endure even when circumstances are difficult. We invite you to become familiar with our wide range of opportunities for church partnerships.
We thank all those who nurture these connections and fill them with life. May the stories in this newsletter encourage and strengthen you, and help to carry the signs of hope forward.
With warm regards, wishing you a blessed Christmas
and a peaceful 2026
Ulrich Meyer-Höllings
