"Salaam za Advent!" - Greetings for the Advent season,
I have finally arrived in Hermannsburg! I am delighted that I was able to take up my post as the new Director of ELM in mid-November and I'm looking forward to the tasks that now await me. This includes writing an editorial for our newsletter every now and then in which we inform you every four weeks about developments and events at ELM. You might ask, who I am and what expectations I had, when I took on this post, and what is important to me. I hope, the interview Mr André Ricci from the Böhme-Zeitung in Soltau did with me, will give will give you a first impression. He has kindly allowed us to include it in this newsletter. Many thanks for that!
I myself am currently on a tour of discovery and am amazed at how diverse the work of ELM is, how strong the network with its partner churches is and how hard it is working towards a just world as a church organisation. The topics in our newsletter are testimony to this. This is also documented by the topics in our newsletter. I would like to discuss many of these topics with you during my time as Director and look forward to exchanging ideas with you.
And so I greet you with the encouraging words from Luke 21:28b "Look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." At the same time, I invite you to visit our website (www.elm-mission.net). Every Sunday during Advent you will find there a word of blessing, a short story and a project from one of our partner churches.
I wish you "Baraka za Bwana" (Kiswahili: God's blessing) in the Advent season.
Dr Emmanuel Kileo
Director of the Ev.-luth. Mission in Lower Saxony
