we would like to invite you to the following event:
German summary: Diese ELM-Seminarreihe beschäftigt sich mit der Zukunftsfähigkeit von Kirchen international. Gemeinsam mit Christ*innen aus der internationalen Ökumene machen wir uns auf die Suche nach kreativen und hoffnungsbewegten Lösungen für typische Probleme unserer Kirchengemeinden. Die Konferenzsprache ist Englisch.
While sharing with others about your own faith does not come naturally for many, doing this with your own kids seems even more difficult the older they get. What do I wish for my kids concerning faith? With which words or actions do I inadvertently push them away? Are there situations, where such conversations are easier and others, which I should rather avoid? How does my own context - including culture - influence this interaction with my child or children?
We are grateful to again have identified interesting speakers who will engage us on this topic:
Mrs Lungisile Khumalo is a Chartered Accountant currently working as a Deputy Head of Departmental Accounting at the eThekwini municipality in Durban/South Africa. She is married and has 4 kids (from ages 5 to 21). Lungisile is a member of the ELM partner church ELCSA, in the St Michaels congregation where she is part of the congregational leadership of the Prayer Womens League and serves as a treasurer for the whole Durban Central Parish.
Mrs & Mr Mida and Kirk Chamberlain stay in Hermannsburg/Germany with their two children (ages 11 to 13). Mida is a qualified social worker as well as HR manager. Kirk is the executive director of the „Lebenshilfe im Landkreis Verden e.V.”, an organization that supports persons living with disabilities and their families. As a family they are members of the Peter-Paul-Congregation, where Kirk also serves as a member of the congregational council.
The event will take place via Zoom. The participation link will be sent by email in advance.
Saturday, 23rd November 2024. Online seminar from 4pm (South African time) and 3pm (German time). This online seminar will be held in English only.
